Come on Brendan, this is too easy! Time to come back to the Premier League!

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers equalled Jock Stein's long-standing record of winning four consecutive trophies with The Bhoys by cruising to Scottish League Cup glory at the weekend.

However, in a period where Celtic's fierce rivals Rangers are lagging far behind, is Celtic enough of a challenge for the ex-Liverpool boss and should he be seeking a tougher job back in the Premier League?

Celtic have been untouchable in Scottish football since administration forced their closest rivals Rangers to drop down the leagues in 2012.

Brendan Rodgers hit another milestone in his dominance of Scottish football on Sunday, as his Celtic side's 2-0 win against Motherwell in the Scottish League Cup final equalled former manager Stein's record of four consecutive trophy triumphs. As well as this, Rodgers' side are also currently enjoying a remarkable run of 65 league games without defeat with no apparent sign of an imminent ending.

Despite his Liverpool tenure turning sour in its closing stages, Rodgers is a talented coach with an attractive, exciting football philosophy. Celtic's Manchester City loanee Patrick Roberts has even compared him to two-time Champions League winner and boss of his parent club, Pep Guardiola: "The gaffer here is similar [to Guardiola], he tries to play football at every opportunity, even when we're under pressure, and he's instilled that in every player."

However, they are way off replicating their league success in Europe and were on the wrong end of a 7-1 hammering at home to PSG in the Champions League last week; leaving them in the awkward position of dominating domestically but totally unable to compete in European competitions.

It begs the question of whether Rodgers has taken Celtic as far as he possibly can and if his talents are wasted at Celtic Park and should be deployed back in the top-flight of English football.

The Scottish Premiership is great to watch. Its had some fantastically dramatic moments, is supported by an abundance of passion-brimmed fans and holds one of the fiercest rivalries in world football. However it's not, and never has been, a league packed full of quality.

The Premier League, on the other hand, is among the world's top leagues and although Rodgers is likely to carry on hauling in the trophies if he remains at Celtic, I think he should be looking for a slightly tougher and more interesting challenge back in the home of some of the planet's best footballers.

There is a vacant position at Goodison Park that is yet to be filled...

Everton are enduring a torrid of form at the moment and it would be a very tough job but they're a prestigious club with a big bank balance that, in the hands of the right person, could still have a bright future ahead of them if they can get through this bad patch.

I'm unsure whether Rodgers' Liverpool connections would cause Everton to rule out a move for him. From the outside looking in, though, this looks like a really intriguing match and one that could be made in heaven.
